Student Services (SS)

The Student Services Office of the Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology (GCIT) is dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and Gross National Happiness (GNH) inspired campus environment that supports the holistic development and overall well-being of all students. Through a student-centred approach, the office works closely with students to promote their mental, emotional, social, and physical well-being by providing comprehensive support services, counseling, mentoring, and student development initiatives. A wide range of programs and recreational activities are organized to encourage healthy lifestyles, leadership skills, teamwork, and positive social engagement. The office also plays a vital role in maintaining student discipline by implementing fair and consistent policies, offering guidance, and applying corrective measures when necessary to ensure a respectful and responsible campus community.

In alignment with its mission, the office advocates for student development through the Inspire, Challenge, and Empower (ICE) Model, recognizing that the interaction between students and their learning environment is critical to success in tertiary education.

  • Inspire: Students are inspired through facilitated interactions with business communities and leading global technology companies, enabling them to broaden their perspectives and equip themselves with the skills and mindset required upon graduation.
  • Challenge: Students are challenged through hackathons, mini-hacks, and events such as Bhutan TED Talk–style forums, ICT Summits, and Bootcamps, which provide opportunities to address real-life issues and enhance learning through active participation.
  • Empower: Students are empowered to serve as champions for ICT in Bhutan by forming Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and Communities of Practice (COPs), where they can act as ambassadors and leaders in their areas of interest.

Beyond these developmental initiatives, the Student Services Office also undertakes key responsibilities including:

  • Organizing orientation and graduation processes for all students.
  • Ensuring adherence to the College’s student code of conduct.
  • Managing hostel allocation and maintaining hostel facility cleanliness.
  • Providing student welfare, sports, and recreational services.

Through these integrated efforts, the Student Services Office strives to foster the intellectual, social, psychological, and physical growth of every student, enabling them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally while preparing them to become competent professionals and responsible citizens.
